Mentorship in India has its roots in the Guru-Shishya tradition, where students lived with and learned
from their gurus (teachers). This tradition emphasized not only academic learning but also the imparting
of life skills, values, and ethical principles. Today, this concept has evolved into structured
mentor-mentee programs within higher education institutions. The concept of mentorship in the college
was introduced in the academic session 2014-15 .
The Motto: Guiding Excellence, Nurturing Futures:
The motto of mentorship in higher education encapsulates its essence. Mentors are not just educators;
they are guides who inspire excellence in their mentees. They play a pivotal role in nurturing the
future of their students.
Vision: Empowering Students through Guided Learning:
The vision of mentorship is to empower students through guided learning. It aims to equip them with the
knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to excel academically and excel in life beyond the classroom.
This vision is in line with India's aspiration for a knowledge-driven society.
Goals:
Foster Academic Growth: One of the primary goals of mentorship is to foster academic growth.
Mentors
provide personalized guidance, helping students understand complex concepts, set academic goals, and
excel in their studies.
Enhance Personal Development: Mentor-mentee relationships go beyond academics. They help
students
develop essential life skills, including communication, problem-solving, and time management,
